Epoch 283

Statistics for Epoch 283

Expected number of blocks : 5.02

Block Allocated : 3

Blocks Produced : 3

Luck* : 60%

Blocks Predicted for the Next Epoch: 4

We produced the blocks we were allocated this epoch which was three on an expectation of five (on average). For the next epoch we are again looking at being allocated below the average expected blocks and this has been a theme for quite a while now which is a little disheartening. Hopefully we start get some allocations above five blocks shortly.

Well the hard fork combinator event is set for September 12th and after this it will be possible to run smart contracts on the Cardano network – great news!! It is worth keeping in mind that a lot of the tooling is following this date so lets see what gets release initially but we guess it will be a good two to three months before many projects start appearing on Cardano. Just because Haskell is being used and formal methods to reduce hacks there will still be hacks due to poor programming so please keep this in mind, there are tools to reduce problems but it all depends on the developers and how they are used. We will see hacks on Cardano smart contracts and then the media will come to the fore and try and bring us down but we just have to be realistic and accept issues like this still can happen.

Again just a reminder that our website will be down for a few weeks at the end of August as we are moving locations and it will take time to get up and running again. This is ONLY our website, our cardano nodes will be working without any interruptions. We will post in telegram our weekly updates and will try and get the website address to redirect somewhere sensible while out of action.

We have another new delegator this epoch so welcome to you and as usual many thanks to all who continue to trust us with their stake of ADA. So until the end of the next epoch where we return with a small update we hope you have a great five days!

* – Blocks are allocated randomly each epoch based upon total stake a pool has just like a lottery. Luck refers to how many blocks were allocated to a pool against the expected blocks that the pools should produce. Some epochs (5 day periods) you will be allocated more blocks and some less but over time it should even out
