Statistics for Epoch 276
Expected number of blocks : 5.06
Block Allocated : 2
Blocks Produced : 2
Luck* : 39%
Blocks Predicted for the Next Epoch: 4
Another fairly quiet epoch and we produced the two blocks allocated as predicted. For the next epoch it looks like we will be allocated four blocks which is better although slightly under the expected average of five.
This epoch we realised that the Linux distribution we use will be made end of life by the end of the year rather than 2029 as was the case when we installed it on all our systems. This was a shock although it has been known since the New Year we missed this announcement. So we have had to look around again at distributions and we have swapped one of our relays over to a new distribution and are monitoring it to ensure there are no surprises. After a few months of use and building new versions of the cardano-node software we will upgrade the other systems to this version so they are all consistent.
Regarding the relays, they are running close on the amount of memory used so we will have to upgrade them to have more memory and CPU which of course means extra cost but this will be needed for Alonzo era (Smart contracts) so we will just have to proceed with this shortly.
It looks like we have one new delegator so welcome to you and as usual thanks to all of you who continue to stake with us. We will be back at the end of the next epoch with a short update of our progress over the epoch.
* – Blocks are allocated randomly each epoch based upon total stake a pool has just like a lottery. Luck refers to how many blocks were allocated to a pool against the expected blocks that the pools should produce. Some epochs (5 day periods) you will be allocated more blocks and some less but over time it should even out.
