Epoch 236 – Santa Buddy …

“Slip some blocks under the tree, for us, we’ve been an awfully good pool” …. Apologies to Mr Bublé 🙂

Statistics for Epoch 236

Estimated number of blocks (Adapools.org) : 4.7

Block Allocated : 4

Blocks Produced : 4

Luck* : 85%

Slightly under projected block but again we have made all blocks allocated and have maintained our 100% record since the Shelley era started.

Not too much to report this epoch. The new node software (release 1.24.2) seems to use more CPU and it is using more memory – not sure if this is a memory leak or that nodes that have not upgraded are trying to connect and are rejected which is causing issues but hopefully this will be addressed in the next release.

As for Cardano news there was the release of the KEVM Devnet which will eventually allow Ethereum smart contracts to run on Cardano (using Solidity) and there was a some exciting partnership news and a video released by Charles Hoskinson regarding Cardano oracles which was great to see.

We here at genePool One wish you all a Merry Christmas although it seems with many more lockdowns taking place Christmas will be quite different this year. We all hope for a better 2021 but it looks like it will take many months for things to turn around. Well enough of the doom and gloom we await the next Christmas epoch and see what Santa will bring us and whether we have been naughty or nice. Many thanks to all our loyal stakers and those who are new we hope you stay with us and we will do our best to ensure good returns for 2021.

* – Blocks are allocated randomly each epoch based upon total stake a pool has just like a lottery. Luck refers to how many blocks were allocated to a pool against the expected blocks that the pools should produce. Some epochs (5 day periods) you will be allocated more and some less but over time it should even out.
