So we draw to a close of epoch 214. Again we have not been allocated what is predicted by Adapools but the consolation is we at least had one block. We have produced every block we have been allocated so far during all the epochs, we could just do with more blocks! The network is still run with the majority of blocks produced by IOHK but each epoch the stake pools get to produce more. We are due a good allocation of blocks so we are looking forward to epcoh 215 to see what we get.
It is possible to get notifications from Adapools if a stake pool’s relays go offline. Just to keep you all informed we are still restarting all nodes before the end of each epoch but this is done in such a way that the pool is never offline and we can always make any blocks allocated to us. We do this to get a fresh set of relays and just to ensure that we have a fresh node ready for the next epoch. We will evaluated this going forward.
There is not much else to report. There have been no new releases of the node software this epoch. What will be coming along in September is P2P (Peer to Peer) networking allowing the nodes to discover and connect to nodes without the need for 3rd party solutions. Currently we are using topologyUpdater which relies on a central service so with P2P the network gets more robust not having to rely on third part infrastructure.
Due to our performance last epoch we have lost a lot of delegators but hope over the next few months we can show our reliability and returns and we can lure some of these back and earn the trust of some new stakers.
Statistics for Epoch 214
Estimated number of blocks (Adapools.org) : 3
Blocks Produced : 1
Comments – So far we have made every block allocated but have not been allocated what is expected from the protocol. This comes down to a luck factor and we have not had it apart from the first epoch so we expect this must change. We keep going forward and remain confident that the economic parameters of the system will change to help out smaller stake pools.
